Sentence and Paragraph Counter
Count sentences, paragraphs, words, and estimate reading/speaking times.
How it works
Analyze the writing structure of your text in real time. This tool counts characters (with and without spaces), words, sentences (demarcated by periods, exclamation, or question marks), and paragraphs. It also calculates words per sentence and estimates average reading and speaking times.
Frequently asked questions
How is the end of a sentence determined?
A sentence is counted when a strong punctuation mark (., !, or ?) is followed by a space or a newline.
How are reading and speaking times calculated?
Reading time is estimated assuming a rate of 200 words per minute for silent reading. Speaking time is estimated at 130 words per minute for spoken speech.
